Doc-David-with-GrammysDavid Holt Named Honorary Chair of Campaign

Western North Carolina resident and Grammy-award winning musician David Holt has partnered with MANNA as the honorary chair in the Public Phase of our Space to Erase Hunger capital campaign.

The goal of the campaign is to raise $2.5 million to fund the renovation of our buildings in order to increase food handling capacity, freezer, and cooler space. By doing so, we’ll be able to accept more frozen meats, dairy, and fresh vegetables, improve work flow, and maximize efficiency and safety in our warehouses.

With these major improvements in place, MANNA’s facility will allow us to acquire and distribute up to 20 million pounds of food/year, fully meeting the increased need we anticipate in the region in the next ten years.

“We are honored to have David lend his voice and influence to raise awareness about hunger in our region and the impact this project will have once completed,” noted Brad Searson, Chair of the Campaign Steering Committee.

Four-time Grammy Award winner Holt is a musician, storyteller, historian, television host and entertainer, dedicated to performing and preserving traditional American music and stories. Holt plays ten acoustic instruments and has released numerous recordings of traditional mountain music and southern folktales.
