Voluntary Recall On Certain Backroad Country Brand Sunflower Kernel Products – 5/26/16

Millersburg, OH – Troyer® Cheese Inc, under advice from its packaging facility concerning, CRANBERRY NUT DELIGHT MIX PREPACK, HONEY ISLAND CRUNCH MIX PREPACKAGED,  PRETZELS PEANUT BUTTER PREPACKAGED, and WALNUT HALVES/PIECES PREPACKAGED, is recalling a limited number of products that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

A limited number of the following products, under the Backroad Country brand, are being voluntarily recalled:

Recalled retail items were sold in packaged bags and are marked with Best By dates located on the front or back of the packages.

The products were packaged at Amish Wedding Foods and distributed by Troyer Cheese, Inc., between the dates of May 6, 2016 and May 24, 2016. Shipments were to the following states: AL, AR, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, NE, NJ, NY OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI & WV.

Although no illnesses have been reported to date, Troyer Cheese Inc. is voluntarily recalling all affected products in an abundance of caution. This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Consumers are urged not to consume these products. Consumers who purchased these products may take them back to the store where they purchased them for a refund or simply discard them. Consumers seeking information may call 1-877-343-1614 Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Retailers and wholesale customers should check their inventories and shelves to confirm that none of the products are present or available for purchase by consumers or in warehouse inventories.

Ultimate Nutrition Inc. of Farmington, CT, is recalling its dietary supplement, Amino Gold, because they may contain undeclared milk in the form of hydrolyzed whey protein. People who have allergies to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled Amino Gold was distributed nationwide through distributors, stores, and websites. The affected product is packaged in purple bottles with a black cap.

The product comes in the following forms:

No illnesses have been reported to date. The current lots and expiration dates in the market are; 403122 (exp: 3-17), 405138 (5-17), 406001 (6-17), 407067 (7-17), 508080 (8-18), 602230 (2-19), 604166 (4-19).

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the possible milk-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk. The investigation as to the cause of this is ongoing.

Ultimate Nutrition takes all matters of dietary supplement safety very seriously, including the issue of allergens. Ultimate Nutrition is coordinating with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding this isolated event.

Conagra Foods Packaged Foods, LLC Recalls Two Beef Products Due To Misbranding and an Undeclared Allergen – 5/24/16

Health Risk: Low May 19, 2016

WASHINGTON, May 19, 2016 – ConAgra Foods Packaged Foods, LLC, a Council Bluffs, Iowa establishment, is recalling approximately 84,340 pounds of two beef products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products were inadvertently formulated with Worcestershire sauce and may contain fish (anchovies), a known allergen that is not declared on the product label.

The frozen beef items were produced between April 13 and April 14, 2016. The following products are subject to recall: [View Labels (PDF Only)]

• 14-oz. box of “Marie Callender’s Salisbury Steak with Roasted Potatoes and Home-Style Gravy served with Cheesy Broccoli & Cauliflower” with package code of 5014610500 and packaging date of April 14, 2016.
• 76-oz. package of “Molly’s Kitchen Macaroni & Beef with Tomato Sauce” with package code of 5014610400 and packaging date of April 13, 2016.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 1058” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The Marie Callender’s item was shipped to retail distribution centers nationwide and the Molly’s Kitchen item was shipped to an institutional customer nationwide.

The problem was discovered when the establishment became aware of an error associated with a shipment of Worcestershire sauce. The Worcestershire sauce was miscoded as Rochester sauce and the establishment subsequently used the miscoded sauce in the recalled products.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Dakota Style Foods, Inc. Recalls Product Because of Possible Health Risk – 5/24/16

Dakota Style Foods, Inc. of Clark, South Dakota is recalling 6,930 cases of sunflower kernels because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The sunflower kernels were distributed to 31 customers nation-wide and are sold through retail outlets.

The products involved are Dakota Style 16 ounce Roasted and Salted Sunflower Kernels, 3.5 ounce Roasted and Salted Sunflower Kernels, 32 ounce Roasted and Salted Sunflower Kernels, 4 ounce Savory Bacon Sunflower Kernels and 8 ounce Savory Bacon Sunflower Kernels that were shipped by Dakota Style Foods, Inc. between February 15, 2016 and April 7, 2016. The affected lots are identified by lot codes 8B6M02 and 8B6M09. The consumer packages are plastic packages bearing the company logo and product name with the lot code located on the back right hand panel of the consumer package.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall resulted from notice by SunOpta, one of Dakota Style’s sunflower kernel suppliers, that SunOpta initiated a voluntary recall of certain lots of sunflower kernels. Dakota Style has identified the lots that may have included ingredients received from SunOpta and is actively working to return all affected products.

Consumers who have purchased Dakota Style 16 ounce Roasted and Salted Sunflower Kernels, 3.5 ounce Roasted and Salted Sunflower Kernels, 32 ounce Roasted and Salted Sunflower Kernels, 4 ounce Savory Bacon Sunflower Kernels or 8 ounce Savory Bacon Sunflower Kernels with lot code 8B6M02 or 8B6M09 located on the back right-hand panel of the consumer package are urged to return the package to the place of purchase for a full refund. TreeHouse Foods Expands Voluntary Product Recall Due to Possible Health Risk – 5/24/16

The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., today announced a voluntary recall of a small quantity of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars after an ingredient supplier was found to have distributed sunflower kernels that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (L.mono). There have been no reported illnesses to date. However, Quaker is initiating the voluntary recall in an abundance of caution to protect public health.

While the vast majority of potentially affected Quaker products were withheld from ever reaching retail shelves, the products being recalled were distributed nationwide and are as follows:

Publix Recalls Cranberry Nut And Seed Mix Due To Possible Health Risk – 5/16/16

LAKELAND, Fla – Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall for cranberry nut and seed mix because it may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. Publix received notification of the potential contamination from the walnut supplier, Woodstock Farms, after routine testing was completed. The 7.05 ounce plastic containers of prepackaged cranberry nut and seed mix were sold at Publix retail produce departments in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina with a UPC of 41415-34986 and with use by dates August 7, 2016 through August 30, 2016.

Consumption of products containing Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 21225,” “EST. 9281,” “EST. 1623A” or “EST. 18356” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped nationwide and to Canada and Mexico.

The problem was discovered when Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc. was notified by CRF Frozen Foods that its frozen vegetables used in Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc. products were involved in a recall. CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington voluntarily recalled frozen fruit and vegetable items due to an illness outbreak of listeriosis. There have been no confirmed reports of illness or adverse reactions due to consumption of Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc.’s products.

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. Less commonly, persons outside these risk groups are affected.

Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. An invasive infection spreads beyond the gastrointestinal tract. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn. In addition, serious and sometimes fatal infections in older adults and persons with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics. Persons in the higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care and tell the health care provider about eating the contaminated food.

FSIS and the company are concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

No illnesses to date have been reported to ConAgra Foods for the products listed below.

United Natural Trading LLC, d/b/a Woodstock Farms Manufacturing, Edison, NJ, is voluntarily recalling a limited number of lots of conventional walnuts and walnut-containing products (see attachment for products and lot numbers) that were purchased from Gibson Farms and sold under the Nature’s Promise, Woodstock, Market Basket, and Woodfield Farms brands due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune symptoms. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The lot numbers are printed on the back of each retail bag. The walnut and walnut-containing products were shipped to retailers and distributors in limited quantities throughout the United States.

The recall was issued as a precaution because a single sample in a finished product yielded a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes. The Company is coordinating closely with regulatory officials and has contacted its customers to ensure that any remaining recalled products are removed.

No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall and no other walnuts or products under the brands are being recalled.

Only the specific lot numbers and sell dates identified in the attachment are included in this recall. Consumers who have any remaining product with these lot numbers should not consume it, but rather should discard it. Consumers should retain their store receipts, packaging reflecting lot numbers or any other proof of purchase they may have. Whole Foods Market Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanut and Coconut in Korean BBQ Sauce – 5/13/16

Whole Foods Market is voluntarily recalling one batch of Whole Foods Market™ Korean BBQ Sauce because the product contains Peanut Coconut Sauce and therefore includes peanut and treenut (coconut) allergens that were not declared on product packaging. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts and or tree nuts (coconut) run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

All recalled product has been removed from store shelves. The product was packaged in 12-ounce glass bottles with UPC code 9948244812 and a best-by date of Oct. 19, 2017 and was available nationally at Whole Foods Market stores. One of the grocer’s team members discovered the mislabeled product while receiving a shipment at the store. Whole Foods Market contacted the manufacturer and confirmed that a lot of Peanut Coconut Sauce had been mislabeled as Korean BBQ Sauce.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The Pictsweet Company Announces Voluntary Recall of Select Frozen Vegetable Items due to Possible Health Risk – 5/11/16

The Pictsweet Company is voluntarily recalling certain frozen vegetable products because they contain Green Beans or Green Peas recently recalled by CRF Frozen Foods, a Pictsweet ingredient supplier.

On May 5th CRF Frozen Foods informed Pictsweet they were initiating a recall on all lots of Green Beans and Green Peas supplied to Pictsweet due to the potential risk they may contain Listeria monocytogenes (Lm),an organism that is widespread in the environment. Lm can contaminate food and cause mild to severe illness to persons who consume food containing Lm. Persons at greatest risk are newborn infants, the elderly, and persons with weakened immune systems. The affected Pictsweet items were distributed nationwide through retail stores. Recalled products were all manufactured using Cut Green Beans or Green Peas. This information is printed on the back panel of each package. No other Pictsweet products are impacted by this recall.

Let’s Talk Health, Inc. Issues Alert on Undeclared Milk and Soy in Energizer Drink Mix – 5/10/16

Let’s Talk Health, Inc., is recalling its 15 packet jars of “Energizer Drink Mix,” Agua Vitae Liquid Multi-Vitamin, Agua Vitae Kids Liquid Multi-Vitamin and Tox-Elim because they contain an undeclared milk and soy allergen from Whey Protein. People who have allergies to soy and milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Recalled Products

The recalled “Energizer Drink Mix,” was Agua Vitae Liquid Multi-Vitamin, Agua Vitae Kids Multi-Vitamin and Tox-Elim distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders.

The “Energizer Drink Mix” comes in 0.3 ounce, plastic packet marked with lot #14592 and #15411 for the strawberry/banana batches, lot #14593 and #15431 for the citrus batches and lot #14594 and 15432 for the pomegranate batches. The lot number can be found embossed on the top seal of the packet.

The Agua Vitae Liquid Multi-Vitamin comes in a 32 oz. white bottle and marked with lot numbers on the bottom of the bottle that include: 15258, 15483 and 15554.

The Agua Vitae Kids Liquid Multi-Vitamin comes in a 16 oz white bottle and marked with the lot number on the bottom: 15193

The Tox-Elim comes in a 32 oz. white bottle and marked with the lot number on the bottom: 15425.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the milk and soy allergen from Whey Protein was utilized by the manufacturer instead of a soy/milk free protein and therefore did not reveal the presence of the soy/milk allergen. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.

Production of the product has been suspended until the company is certain that the problem has been corrected.

PASCO, Wash., — As a precaution, CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington is expanding its voluntary recall of frozen organic and traditional fruits and vegetables. We are performing this voluntary recall in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

This expanded recall of frozen vegetables includes all of the frozen organic and traditional fruit and vegetable products manufactured or processed in CRF Frozen Foods’ Pasco facility since May 1, 2014. All affected products have the best by dates or sell by dates between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018. These include approximately 358 consumer products sold under 42 separate brands, the details of which are listed below. Products include organic and non-organic broccoli, butternut squash, carrots, cauliflower, corn, edamame, green beans, Italian beans, kale, leeks, lima beans, onions, peas, pepper strips, potatoes, potato medley, root medley, spinach, sweet potatoes, various vegetable medleys, blends, and stir fry packages, blueberries, cherries, cranberries, peaches, raspberries, and strawberries. We apologize for any concern or inconvenience this expanded recall has caused our customers and consumers who enjoy our products. We are issuing this release to alert consumers not to eat these products. Consumers who purchased these products may return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund, or simply discard them. CRF had already suspended operations at its Pasco, Washington facility as of Monday morning, April 25, 2016 following the initial voluntary recall, so a thorough review could be conducted.

CDC has informed CRF Frozen Foods that the government has identified seven people from three states who became ill and were hospitalized due to Listeria. Some of these illnesses have been linked to consuming CRF-manufactured or processed products. CDC also informed us that, sadly, two of these individuals later died, but that Listeria was not the cause of death in either person.

All retailers who received the products have been contacted.

CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington is voluntarily recalling fifteen frozen vegetable items that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

No illnesses have been reported to date, but the company is recalling the products as a precaution. The Listeria was discovered through routine testing by state health officials in Ohio. Listeria monocytogenes was found to be present in one lot of Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) organic petite green peas and one lot of IQF organic white sweet cut corn.

Recalled items were sold in plastic bags and are marked with Use By Dates located on the back of the package. Listed below are details regarding the recalled items:

We know the recalled frozen vegetables were distributed to retailers and distribution centers between September 13, 2015 and March 16 in the following states, and may be redistributed in other states nationwide: AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, LA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, MT, NV, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, and in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan of Canada.

Consumers are urged not to consume these products. Consumers who purchased these products may take them back to the store where they purchased them for a refund or simply discard them. Consumers seeking information may email CRF8364@stericycle.com or call 1-844-483-3866 Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Standard Time.

CSM Bakery Solutions’ Voluntary Recall of Cinnabon Stix® Due to Undeclared Peanut Allergen – 5/3/16

Bakery supplier, CSM Bakery Solutions, has notified Cinnabon of the recall of Cinnabon Stix due to the possible presence of peanut allergens in an ingredient used in Cinnabon Stix. The Cinnabon Stix are sold in bakery cups, bags, or boxes, and may have been distributed to Cinnabon retail locations throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Although the nutritional and allergen information currently indicates that Cinnabon products may contain milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, pecans, other tree nuts or traces of nuts, Cinnabon is taking extra measures knowing that peanut allergens have been detected in the ingredients for the Cinnabon Stix. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to specific types of allergens, such as peanuts, run the risk of serious life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. Cinnabon is not aware of any complaints or illnesses at this time.

Effective immediately, all Cinnabon bakeries are discontinuing the sale of Cinnabon Stix until CSM has confirmed that the potential source of peanut allergens has been contained and eliminated. Anyone who has purchased Cinnabon Stix is encouraged to discard them if there is possible exposure to anyone with a peanut allergy.
