Total donations amounted to $4,563 and 17,808 pounds of food. For every $1 donated, MANNA is able to provide 3 meals,  and for every pound donated we are able to donate 1.2 meals. With these students’ hard work and dedication we are able to provide 35,058 meals to Western North Carolina individuals and families in need!!!

We can’t wait to see what happens next year for our 10th annual Student Food Drive! A huge thanks to all the schools and students who participated.

March 15, 2016: It’s time again for MANNA’s annual challenge to WNC schools! From March 5 to April 14, students will be collecting food and funds to help end hunger in Western North Carolina.

The Student Food Drive is an collaborative effort from schools across the region to collect food, raise money and volunteer in the effort to end hunger in WNC. Participating schools enter into a friendly competition to see which school can raise the most amount of food, who can raise the most money, who can provide the highest number of volunteer hours and, new for this year, which school can get the best online support through social media.

This food drive not only helps involve students in addressing hunger on a local level, but also educates students about the issue in their specific community, and unites students to make a real, lasting difference on a local level.

We’d like to thank all of the schools and students that have already signed up to participate!
