Sample volunteer job descriptions a pantry might use:
HARD-WORKING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Someone with a kind heart, strong back and availability on Saturday mornings. At County’s Best Food Pantry we serve our neighbors in need of food every Friday from 9-12, rain or shine, which means we need at least four people that can lift at least 30lbs. to help us unload our truck at 8am. It can be hard work, but the company is friendly and you will be helping out the most vulnerable folks in the area, it’s rewarding. If you can stay for the distribution and help clean up, that’s great too, but right now we just really need some strong folks to keep the food flowing. Our mission is “To serve the people of Johnson County with the food and dignity they need”. You need not commit to every Saturday, but we would like you to commit to a minimum of one Saturday per month on a consistent schedule. If this position interests you, fill out an application here: http://countiesbestfoodpantry.org/volapp/. Please call Verla Smith if you have any questions, we’d love to talk at 555-5555.
SEEKING A WELCOMING VOLUNTEER: Sweet Hill Church Pantry needs help! We have several needs at our pantry and hope you may be interested in helping us out! We are looking for an intake person which means a friendly face and demeanor is required, do you have a positive personality? The most vulnerable folks in the area sure could use a friendly word. We need a commitment to Tuesday afternoons from 1-4, twice a month. We are also looking for someone that can work on our website. We have a WordPress page, but struggle to work with it – we need someone with more expertise. You can work on your own schedule, but we hope to have a better web presence by the start of the school year and hope you can commit to keeping it up to date. Our mission is to serve the Lord by serving our community with love, won’t you join us? We’d love to have you. Here is a link to our application http://sweethillchurchpantry/volunteerapplication.
