National Nutrition Month

National Nutrition Month

MANNA Foodbank is celebrating National Nutrition Month©, a time that is dedicated to encouraging healthy food choices for all.

Imagine you have to choose between paying your heating bill, paying for car repairs so you can get to work, or buying groceries to feed you and your family. This has been an unprecedented year and many hardworking individuals find themselves having to make these tough decisions.

The pandemic has shed light on how vulnerable people are to illness with underlying health conditions such as diabetes and obesity. These health affects are complicated by the economic hardships and job loss that have resulted from the pandemic. Despite the staggering effects of the pandemic on our economy and rising rates of food insecurity, MANNA and our Partner Agencies have made it a priority to provide healthy food and fresh produce to our WNC community to help combat these chronic conditions.

The 2021 National Nutrition Day theme, Personalize Your Plate, promotes creating nutritious meals to meet individuals’ cultural and personal food preferences. The Nutrition works program engages with community partners to help provide the nutrition education necessary to prepare healthy meals on any budget.
